India, Norway Move To Ease Trade Barriers Under TEPA

India and Norway have agreed to address key trade and investment bottlenecks to fully leverage the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which came into force on October 1, 2025.
The issues were discussed during the third India–Norway Dialogue on Trade and Investment held on April 16, where both sides identified challenges including sanitary and phytosanitary measures, product registration and certification norms, regulatory frameworks, compliance costs and origin certification requirements. The two countries agreed to resolve these concerns through mutually agreed mechanisms to maximise the benefits of the agreement.
TEPA, signed between India and the European bloc European Free Trade Association comprising Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland aims to strengthen economic ties and enhance trade flows.
Both sides also committed to intensifying efforts to diversify bilateral trade and promote new business opportunities. India’s exports to Norway have shown steady growth, rising from US$ 270 million in 2014 to US$ 439 million in 2025.
Separately, NICDC Logistics Data Services Ltd (NLDSL) has signed an MoU with the state of Maharashtra to accelerate digital transformation in the logistics sector through the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP).
The initiative is expected to enhance visibility, streamline operations, improve inter-departmental coordination and enable data-driven decision-making across the state’s logistics ecosystem.
