Euro Area Inflation Rises To 2.6% In March: Eurostat

Inflation in the Euro Area accelerated to 2.6% in March 2026 from 1.9% in February, while the broader European Union rate rose to 2.8% from 2.1%, according to data released by Eurostat.
The uptick was largely driven by services, which contributed the most to inflation, followed by energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, and non-energy industrial goods. Energy prices, in particular, rebounded sharply after previous declines, adding upward pressure.
Among member states, the lowest inflation rates were recorded in Denmark (1.0%) and Czechia, Cyprus and Sweden (1.5% each), while Romania (9.0%), Croatia (4.6%) and Lithuania (4.4%) reported the highest levels. Inflation increased in most EU countries compared to February.
The data indicates a renewed price momentum across the region, with services inflation remaining persistent and energy costs turning positive, signaling continued pressure on consumer prices.
