TEXPROCIL Concludes First Generative AI Master Class For Textile Exporters

The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL), in collaboration with the Institute for Integrated Learning in Management (IILM), New Delhi, successfully concluded its first two-day certificate programme, Master Class on Generative Artificial Intelligence for Textile Exporters, held on August 25–26, 2026, at Hotel Orchid, Mumbai.

The Master Class was conceptualised and initiated by Dr. Siddhartha Rajagopal, Executive Director, TEXPROCIL, in collaboration with IILM New Delhi, as part of the Council’s efforts to familiarise textile exporters with emerging technologies and new-age business practices. The programme was coordinated and implemented under Dr. Rajagopal’s guidance, with Prafulla Walhe, Additional Executive Director, TEXPROCIL, leading its coordination and execution.

The programme aimed to provide textile exporters with practical exposure to Generative AI and demonstrate its potential applications in productivity, business intelligence, marketing, communication, research, innovation and export operations.

Welcoming the participants, Dr. Siddhartha Rajagopal highlighted the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence in business and international trade. He emphasised that AI should not be viewed merely as a technological development, but as a practical business-enabling tool that can help exporters improve efficiency, decision-making, customer engagement, marketing and overall competitiveness. He encouraged exporters to understand the potential of Generative AI and progressively integrate relevant applications into their day-to-day operations.

The programme brought together 26 professionals from the textile and export sector. The sessions were conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Sanjiva Shankar Dubey, Dean, IILM Institute for Higher Education, New Delhi and Prof. Chanchal Kushwaha, IILM Institute for Higher Education.

The faculty adopted a practical and interactive approach, enabling participants to experiment with various Generative AI tools and understand their application in real-world business situations. The sessions covered areas including business productivity, content creation, marketing, communication, research, business intelligence, AI policy and export operations.

The second day saw particularly enthusiastic participation, with exporters engaging in hands-on exercises and discussions on how AI could be integrated into their existing business processes. Participants appreciated the industry-oriented approach, particularly the opportunity to work directly with AI tools and explore applications relevant to their marketing, communication, research, productivity and business development needs.

The programme concluded with a valedictory session in the presence of Shri Sunil Patwari, Past Chairman, TEXPROCIL. In his remarks, Patwari appreciated TEXPROCIL’s initiative to introduce a dedicated Generative AI programme for textile exporters. He noted that the textile industry must continuously adapt to technological developments and embrace new tools to remain competitive in international markets.

He encouraged participants to put their learnings into practice and explore AI as a tool to improve efficiency, productivity and business growth. He also appreciated the efforts of TEXPROCIL and IILM in developing an industry-oriented programme addressing the emerging needs of textile exporters.

Sunil Patwari, along with Dr. Siddhartha Rajagopal, distributed course certificates to all 26 participants who successfully completed the programme.

TEXPROCIL acknowledged the valuable contribution of Prof. (Dr.) Sanjiva Shankar Dubey and Prof. Chanchal Kushwaha of IILM Institute for Higher Education, New Delhi, towards making the Master Class practical, interactive and relevant to the evolving needs of the textile export industry.

The successful completion of the first batch marks an important step in TEXPROCIL’s efforts to equip India’s cotton textile exporters with knowledge of emerging technologies and encourage the adoption of AI-driven solutions. The initiative is aimed at strengthening digital capabilities, improving productivity and enhancing the global competitiveness of the sector.

Building on the encouraging response in Mumbai, TEXPROCIL plans to take the Generative AI Master Class to other leading textile manufacturing and export clusters across India. The next module is being planned for October 2026 in Coimbatore, providing exporters in the region an opportunity to learn, explore and leverage Generative AI for improving business processes and creating new avenues for growth.
