The inauguration ceremony took place on July 16, 2023, at Mumbai’s Grand Hyatt, Kalina.
The event witnessed the presence of Minister of State for Textiles, Darshana Jardosh, Minister for Textile Maharashtra, Chandrakant Patil, Minister for Industries Maharashtra, Uday Samant, Minister for Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburban District, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, and other esteemed dignitaries.
During the event, the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to solidify their commitment to the PM MITRA Park in Amravati. The ceremony also witnessed the signing of MoUs between investors and the park authorities, signifying the growing interest and confidence in the project.
“The Government of Maharashtra is committed to the overall industrial development of the state. To achieve this goal, the Maharashtra Economic Advisory Council has been established. This committee has made several recommendations aimed at driving economic growth. To ensure the effective implementation of these recommendations, action will be taken through the Quick Action Committee and ‘Mitra,'” said Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, during the event.
The PM MITRA Textile Park in Amravati is expected to attract an investment of Rs. 10,000 crore and create both direct and indirect employment for approximately 300,000 individuals.
Spanning across a contiguous 1020 acres of land at Nandgaon Peth, adjacent to the Additional Amravati Industrial Area (MIDC), the Park is situated just 30 kilometers away from the Mumbai Nagpur Samruddhi Highway and 147 kilometers from the nearest port, the Wardha Dry Port. As a brownfield park, it already possesses essential infrastructure such as roads, water, and electricity.
Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Commerce & Industry and Textiles said, “That given Maharashtra’s significant contributions across the entire textile value chain, from Farm to Fiber to Factory to Fashion to Foreign, it is a natural choice for a textile park.”
He further highlighted that the well-connected infrastructure of Amravati, including its road, rail, port, and airport networks, will significantly boost the textile industry in Maharashtra. The inauguration of PM MITRA Park in Maharashtra marks a pivotal moment for the state’s textile industry. With strong support from both the central and state governments, these parks are poised to revolutionize the sector, stimulate economic growth, and create numerous employment opportunities. Maharashtra’s commitment to industrial development, exemplified by PM MITRA Park, sets a promising foundation for the future of the textile industry in the state.
“India has historically been recognized as a Textile Hub. The establishment of PM MITRA Parks in different states, including Amravati, Maharashtra, represents a significant stride towards positioning India as a ‘Global Textiles Manufacturing Hub.’ These integrated parks are poised to attract increased investments to Maharashtra, stimulate employment opportunities, and create new avenues for innovation, research, and training in the textiles sector,” stated Minister of State for Textiles, Darshana Jardosh.
The announcement of the seven PM MITRA Parks for the textile industry by the Government of India in March this year set the stage for these ambitious developments. These parks are envisioned to revolutionize the textile sector by establishing world-class industrial infrastructure that can attract substantial investments, both domestically and internationally. Additionally, the parks aim to foster innovation and catalyze job creation, thereby strengthening the industry’s contribution to the state’s economy.
Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 5F vision (Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign), the PM MITRA Parks represent a significant stride towards realizing India’s potential as a global textile manufacturing and export hub. By leveraging economies of scale and implementing advanced technologies, the parks are expected to enhance the industry’s competitiveness and allure global players to establish their manufacturing units in India, further bolstering the country’s position in the global textile market.
