AATCC And TAI Partner To Boost India-USA Textile Ties
As part of its global outreach, the American Association of Textile Chemists & Colorists (AATCC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The Textile Association (India) (TAI). The agreement aims to enhance communication, promote educational activities, and strengthen ties between the two organizations to benefit the Indian textile industry.
The MOU focuses on promoting awareness of AATCC standards in India, avoiding duplication of efforts, and engaging in joint educational initiatives, such as conferences, training programs, and webinars. Members of both organizations will also enjoy cross-membership benefits, including a 30% discount on membership fees. AATCC will additionally offer introductory discounts to TAI’s individual and corporate members.
“The textile industry in India represents a robust and dynamic sector. AATCC is committed to fostering global connections among textile, chemistry, and color science professionals, and our MOU with TAI marks an exciting milestone in this mission,” said AATCC President Christina Rapa. “We eagerly anticipate supporting the Indian market with high-quality testing standards, comprehensive training programs, and valuable networking opportunities in the years ahead.”
Tulsi L. Patel, President of TAI, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “The Textile Association (India) is the largest professional textile association, with over 26,000 members. This collaboration will help organize joint educational programs, seminars, and global conferences, expanding knowledge and market opportunities for individuals and businesses.”
To further AATCC’s outreach in India, the Association has appointed Dr. Seshadri Ramkumar, a recipient of the AATCC Chapin Award and an Honorary Fellow of TAI, as its first AATCC Ambassador to India. Ramkumar, a professor of advanced materials at Texas Tech University, will represent AATCC in engaging with Indian textile companies and organizations.
“This agreement between two leading world bodies will promote knowledge exchange, joint educational programs, and global conferences, bringing together industry, academia, and research organizations to strengthen the fiber-to-fashion and advanced textiles sectors,” said Dr. Ramkumar.
AATCC Executive Director Gregg Woodcock added, “The AATCC Board unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Seshadri Ramkumar as the Association’s first Ambassador to India. We look forward to increased activity and membership growth within the Indian textile community through this partnership.”
