AbTF And TextileGenesis To Enhance Traceability For Cotton Made In Africa

The Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) and TextileGenesis, a Lectra Group company, have announced the continuation of their partnership to advance traceability for Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) verified fibre. This collaboration underscores their shared commitment to sustainable cotton production and supply chain transparency.

CmiA, a leading standard for sustainable cotton, focuses on improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Africa while protecting the environment. Through TextileGenesis’ innovative Fibercoins technology, CmiA cotton can be fully traced from the cotton bale to finished products, ensuring authenticity and sustainability.

Building on their earlier collaboration for The Good Cashmere Standard launched in 2024, this extended partnership aligns with both organizations’ efforts to drive impactful and scalable sustainable practices.

“CmiA values transparency and meaningful change for nature and farming communities. Partnering with TextileGenesis empowers brands to source ethically while benefiting from advanced tracking tools,” said Christian Barthel, Head of Business Development at AbTF. Amit Gautam, founder and CEO of TextileGenesis, added, “This partnership supports sustainable supply chains and improves livelihoods for smallholder farmers in Africa.”

The collaboration offers brands access to TextileGenesis’ extensive supplier network and streamlined traceability tools, alongside CmiA’s SCOT system. TextileGenesis has emerged as the traceability backbone for 90% of material sustainability standards, further cementing its role as the industry standard for certification compliance.
