Archroma’s Baroda Team Wins Gold For Quality Circle Excellence

Archroma has announced that its team in Baroda has received the Gold Award for Quality Circle in the competition organized by the Quality Circle Forum of India, a renowned body in India dedicated to promoting business excellence initiatives.

The competition featured 54 teams from various industries, each demonstrating their proficiency in implementing quality concepts such as quality circles, Six Sigma projects, TPM circles, SMED and Poka-Yoke.

What set Archroma apart was the company’s successful debottlenecking project, which was executed at the chemical unit in its Baroda site. Through a methodical approach, the team identified and eliminated bottlenecks in the chemical manufacturing process, effectively meeting the high demand for the product while enhancing process and production efficiency.

Using a systematic Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach, the company achieved significant process improvements. This included increasing flexibility between reactors, reducing changeover times, enlarging batch sizes, decreasing batch cycle durations, minimizing disruptions and optimizing the drum filling process without altering the drum itself. The result was a remarkable increase in production capacity, exceeding 16%.

Archroma has commended the team for the collective efforts in brainstorming effective solutions to address the challenges, while also enhancing the overall production efficiency of the process.
