Barmag To Showcase Next-Generation Spinning Technologies At ITMA Asia 2026

Barmag will showcase a portfolio of next-generation technologies for man-made fibre production at ITMA Asia 2026, as textile manufacturers face rising energy costs, growing sustainability requirements, labour shortages and increasing demand for production flexibility.

The company will present its latest solutions for filament, staple fibre and nonwoven production from November 20 to 24 at booth D45 in Hall 6.1 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai. A key focus of the portfolio will be Barmag POY 2.0, a new production concept designed to improve productivity, quality, labour efficiency and sustainability across the POY process chain.

Part of the new POY 2.0 spinning concept is the new WINGS POY 2.0 winder, which features an
automatic string-up function for the first time.

POY 2.0 brings together developments in spinning, quenching, winding and digital process control. At its centre is the new Barmag WINGS POY 2.0 winder, which features a fully automatic string-up function. The technology is designed to reduce start-up times and waste while lowering operator intervention, addressing labour shortages in spinning mills.

“For decades, productivity improvements in spinning were often measured in percentages. With POY 2.0, we set out to rethink the entire process from the ground up,” said André Wissenberg, Head of Marketing, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at Barmag.

“The result is a solution that simultaneously addresses the industry’s most pressing challenges: efficiency, quality, sustainability, and workforce availability. This is not a machine upgrade. It is a new production philosophy,” he added.

The POY 2.0 concept also incorporates the newly developed DIO Spin Pack Generation 2, which is designed to improve rheological performance and filament homogeneity. Its more compact construction reduces filter sand consumption by approximately one-third and component weight by more than 30%. The redesigned spinning beam can reduce surface area and deliver energy savings of up to 10%.

POY 2.0 EvoQuench 2.0 Solution

The Barmag EvoQuench 2.0 system is designed to simplify process adjustments and optimise filament quenching. Improved accessibility is expected to reduce set-up times and operator effort while limiting off-quality production during product changes.

“Our customers are no longer looking at individual machine specifications. They are evaluating total operational performance. Energy efficiency, waste reduction, ease of operation and reproducible quality all directly influence profitability. Our solution POY 2.0 was designed around exactly these priorities,” Wissenberg said.

Digitalisation is another key element of Barmag’s offering. Its atmos.io platform is designed to create a connected manufacturing environment by continuously capturing, analysing and distributing production data. The system gives each machine a digital core and enables individual bobbins to be digitally tracked from polymer processing through to warehouse storage.

The platform is intended to provide production managers with greater visibility of operations, allowing quality deviations to be detected earlier and process parameters to be optimised using real-time data. Its app-based architecture also allows manufacturers to select functionalities according to their requirements and integrate them with existing infrastructure.

“The future competition among yarn manufacturers will not be decided by who owns the most machines. It will be decided by who can transform production data into actionable intelligence. atmos.io is enabling exactly that transformation,” Wissenberg said.

WINGS FDY FLEX

For manufacturers seeking greater flexibility, Barmag will also showcase WINGS FDY FLEX, a winding concept designed to support a broad production window and faster product changes across different yarn types, including recycled polyester. The system is aimed at helping producers respond more quickly to changing market requirements while maintaining production efficiency.

Barmag DTY eFK Smart godets

In texturing, Barmag will present the eFK EvoSmart, which combines process control, the EvoHeater system and Smart Godet technology. The machine is designed to reduce specific energy consumption by up to 25% per kilogram of yarn. Replaceable heater inserts simplify maintenance, while optimised airflow systems are designed to double service intervals and reduce maintenance effort by up to 50%.

Barmag has also partnered with India’s Hitech Automation Solutions to integrate the Doffmatic solution into existing eFK systems. The retrofit approach is intended to help texturing producers introduce greater automation without replacing complete production lines.

The Neumag EvoSteam process delivers not only significant energy savings but also even better fiber
quality.

Through its Neumag product line, Barmag will also highlight technologies for staple fibre production. The EvoSteam process is designed to reduce energy consumption while improving fibre quality, supported by EvoDuct and EvE-2 technologies for airflow management and monomer extraction.

Neumag is further extending automation through robotic spin pack cleaning technology, which is designed to deliver consistent cleaning quality, extend service intervals and reduce labour requirements.

“Automation is not about replacing people. It is about allowing skilled operators to focus on higher-value activities while ensuring greater process consistency and operational excellence,” Wissenberg said.

Neumag’s FiberGuard BCF – an intelligent system combining sensors and software – measures yarn
tension between the twisting and winding stages in real time.

For carpet yarn production, Neumag will showcase its BICO BCF technology, which creates a yarn structure designed to improve carpet bulk and recovery while reducing face fibre consumption by approximately 20%. The technology can result in lighter carpets while reducing raw material use.

The company will also present FiberGuard BCF, a sensor-based monitoring system that continuously measures yarn tension between twisting and winding. The system automatically adjusts production parameters when deviations are detected, helping to reduce waste and improve production efficiency. FiberGuard can also be retrofitted onto existing BCF installations.

Neumag hycuTEC

In nonwovens, Neumag will showcase its patented hycuTEC technology for meltblown production. The technology enables electrostatic charging efficiencies of up to 99.99% using osmosis-treated water, supporting applications including filtration.

Barmag Huitong Engineering will highlight its homogenisation technology for the production of polymers used in man-made fibre spinning. The technology supports the thermomechanical recycling of post-industrial polyester waste, including bottle flakes and film materials, for the production of rPET.

By increasing viscosity in a controlled manner, the process can produce defined intermediate products for pellets, melt or direct-spinning fibre production. According to Barmag, the approach can improve polymer quality while reducing dependence on external raw material suppliers and increasing the value recovered from recycled materials.

The technologies will be presented as part of Barmag’s broader focus on combining machinery, digitalisation, automation and resource efficiency. The company said the integrated approach is aimed at helping manufacturers address production costs, sustainability targets and changing customer requirements while maintaining competitiveness.
