Beste Partners With Rieter For Fully Traceable Cotton Supply Chain

Beste Spa, the innovative Italian textile company, has placed an order for a complete Rieter ring spinning system. This state-of-the-art technology, combined with advanced digitization and automation solutions, will enable Beste to streamline the entire textile production process locally in Italy, ensuring the highest quality for luxury brands. The investment aligns with the objectives of the ITACO project, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at establishing a 100% organic, fully traceable Italian cotton supply chain.

Under this partnership, Beste and Rieter will equip the newly launched spinning mill, FILUM S.R.L., based in Bergamo, Italy, exclusively with Rieter’s latest technologies. This strategic step in the ITACO project integrates all phases of cotton production—from organic cotton cultivation in southern Italy to spinning in Bergamo, followed by garment manufacturing in the Prato region. The compact geographical setup not only ensures premium quality control but also reinforces the project’s commitment to sustainability and full supply chain transparency.

The new spinning mill will feature Rieter’s advanced ring spinning system throughout the process—from fiber preparation to winding. At its core is the fully electronic ring spinning machine G 38, enhanced with the COMPACTapron compacting device, ensuring the production of high-quality combed compacted yarn for Beste’s ITACO collection.

The Rieter Digital Spinning Suite ESSENTIAL connects the data in Beste Spa’s new spinning mill.

To further elevate efficiency, the mill will leverage Rieter’s digital mill management system, ESSENTIAL, which connects all data points across the spinning process, providing real-time insights and comprehensive performance metrics from bale to package. Complementing this, the ROBOspin piecing robot ensures uninterrupted performance by automating piecing operations, significantly minimizing the need for manual intervention. Additionally, the SERVOtrail Direct automated roving bobbin transport system eliminates manual bobbin handling, further reducing labor requirements and optimizing operations.

Giovanni Santi, CEO of Beste, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, “We work with partners who share our values and standards. Rieter’s technology aligns perfectly with our philosophy, enabling us to craft yarns that reflect the design excellence and quality we aim to achieve with the ITACO project—a fully traceable Italian cotton initiative.”

Roger Albrecht, Head of the Rieter Business Group Machines & Systems, added, “We are honored that Beste has chosen Rieter’s solutions to power their new growth phase. Our ring spinning system seamlessly integrates into their production chain, supporting the ITACO project’s vision of creating high-quality, sustainable garments within a fully localized and traceable supply chain.”
