Better Cotton Pakistan Teams Up With FPCCI For Sustainability
Better Cotton Pakistan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) to advance the adoption of Better Cotton across the country.
The FPCCI, representing over 270 domestic trade bodies, plays a pivotal role in promoting economic activities and advocating for the private sector’s interests through engagement with the government.
A key focus of this collaboration is Better Cotton Traceability, launched in November 2023 after extensive research and development with fashion and textile stakeholders. The FPCCI will support Better Cotton Pakistan in implementing national traceability initiatives to meet transparency requirements and emerging legislation.
Better Cotton will provide training to the FPCCI on its new Chain of Custody Standard, essential for suppliers trading Traceable Better Cotton.
Better Cotton Pakistan aims to bolster capacity building in the country to align with industry expectations and export targets. The FPCCI, in return, will advocate for Better Cotton among its members, highlighting the benefits of sustainable cotton production at both field and supply chain levels.
Better Cotton Chief Operating Officer, Lena Staafgard, and Better Cotton Pakistan Director, Hina Fouzia, recently formalized the agreement with FPCCI President Atif Ikram Shiekh at an event in Islamabad.
