BGMEA & SDC Sign MoU To Promote Sustainable Textile Innovation
The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in sustainability, education and innovation across Bangladesh’s textile and apparel industry.
The partnership aims to enhance industry capabilities through knowledge and skill development in colour science, artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies, while supporting the adoption of sustainable manufacturing practices.
Under the agreement, the two organisations will work to promote the use of natural fibres, plant-based dyes and bio-based materials, while strengthening links between academic research and industrial applications. The collaboration will also support pilot projects, applied research initiatives and international knowledge exchange through SDC’s global network and publications.
Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Graham Clayton, Chief Executive Officer, SDC, said, “Together with BGMEA, we are driving sustainable innovation and equipping Bangladesh’s textile industry with world-class expertise in colour science.”
Yogesh Gaikwad, Director, SDC International (UK), said the partnership reflects SDC’s commitment to advancing sustainable practices and providing textile professionals with cutting-edge knowledge in colour science and bio-based solutions.
Mijanur Rahman, Vice President (Finance), BGMEA, said the collaboration would strengthen the industry’s technical capabilities and support innovation-led growth, while Mohammed Sohel, Director, BGMEA, noted that it would help build a future-ready workforce and accelerate the adoption of environmentally responsible technologies.
