Bluesign Revises Restrictions On Use Of Textile Chemicals
Switzerland based chemical management company Bluesign announced its latest revised restrictions for chemical substances in order to enable the textile industry undertake more sustainable manufacturing.
The revised restrictions include removal of all PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) from the Bluesign Finder tool as part of blusign’s phase out of the so-called forever chemicals.
After monitoring their use in textile chemical products for two years, limits for bisphenol S, bisphenol F and bisphenol AF have also now been defined, while alignment with ZDHC MRSL 3.1 and AFIRM RSL 2023 too has been implemented
The revised documents of BSSL and BSBL have come into effect and are applied in the Bluesign Tool from July 1 and they replace the BSBL, version 4.0 and BSSL, version 13.0, both from July 1, 2022.
The Bluesign RSL version 14.0 is still under preparation and will be published by end of July 2023.
