BMD Showcases Sustainable Textiles At Heimtextil 2025

The company initially focused on automotive textiles, establishing technical collaborations with global players. The collection at Heimtextil featured upholsteries, curtain fabrics, acoustic solutions and textiles crafted from natural yarns such as hemp, cotton, banana and linen. Specific innovations included blackout fabrics, outdoor awnings and flame-retardant textiles, all developed using the company’s in-house capabilities.

BMD’s state-of-the-art facilities, which encompass woven Dobby & Jacquards, warp and circular knitting and multiple post manufacturing process like embossing, brushing and precise panel cutting, have been instrumental in its ability to deliver high-quality products. The company’s expertise in just-in-time production practices, honed as an automotive ancillary, translates seamlessly into its ability to meet global standards in the home furnishings sector.

Sustainability lies at the core of BMD’s operations. As part of the LNJ Bhilwara Group, the company & Group utilizes renewable energy sources such as hydro, solar and wind power, even contributing surplus energy to the grid. The use of recycled materials, water-saving dope dyeing practices and certifications including IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001,  Reach Compliance, GRS and Oecotex standard 100 certification & Ecovadis sustainability rating further reflect its commitment to meet global manufacturing standards.

A standout at Heimtextil was BMD’s innovative use of banana fibre, derived from agricultural waste, as a sustainable textile option. With applications in both apparel and furnishings, the introduction of banana fibre has drawn considerable interest and positive feedback. ‘Going Green for Human and Earth! The home furnishings market is also witnessing a shift toward knitted fabrics, which offer greater adaptability and breathability compared to traditional woven materials, especially for new furniture designs.
