CAI Revises Estimate Of 2022-23 Season Cotton Pressing Numbers
The Cotton Association of India (CAI) has revised its final estimate of cotton pressing numbers for the season 2022-23 which began from October 1, 2022.
According to a CAI press release, CAI has estimated cotton pressing numbers for the 2022-23 season at 318.90 lakh bales of 170 kgs as against its previous estimate of 311.18 lakh bales.
Based on input received from the members of all the cotton growing state associations and other trade sources, the CAI Crop Committee has forecast estimate of cotton pressing numbers for 2022-23 season.
The total cotton supply of cotton season 2022-23 ending September 30, 2023, is 355.40 lakh bales, which is higher by 5.22 lakh bales than its previous estimates of 350.18 lakh bales.
The estimated total cotton supply consists of the opening stock of 24 lakh bales at the beginning of the cotton season on October 1, 2022.
Cotton pressing numbers for the season are estimated at 318.90 lakh bales and imports for the season are estimated at 12.50 lakh bales and are estimated to be 2.50 lakh bales lower than forecast previously.
The CAI has retained its domestic consumption estimate at 311 lakh bales, while exports for the season have been estimated at 15.50 lakh bales as against 16 lakh bales forecast earlier.
The carry-over stock which was earlier estimated at 23.18 lakh bales has now been revised at 28.90 lakh bales.
