Cambodia Global Textile Summit 2025 Focuses On Innovation And Sustainability
The Cambodia Global Textile Summit 2025 (March 31-April 1) in Phnom Penh brought together government officials, international brand leaders, and industry stakeholders to discuss sustainability, innovation, and competitiveness in the textile and garment sector.
Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, who presided over the inaugural session, emphasized Cambodia’s competitive advantages and the need to enhance vocational training, labor standards, and digitalization to strengthen the industry.
Deputy Prime Minister Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister of Labor Heng Sour, and Senior Minister Sok Siphana also addressed key policy frameworks aimed at ensuring the sector’s long-term growth.
Heng Sour highlighted the industry’s economic significance, noting that Cambodia hosts over 1,600 textile, garment, footwear, and travel goods factories employing nearly one million workers, 700,000 of whom are women.
Albert Tan, Deputy Chairman of the Textile, Apparel, Footwear, and Travel Goods Association in Cambodia (TAFTAC), underscored the summit’s importance, with over 400 participants engaging in discussions on challenges and opportunities in the sector.
Key sessions covered topics such as textile circularity, garment logistics, energy efficiency, and supply chain integration. The summit also marked the launch of the Circular Fashion Partnership in Cambodia, reinforcing the country’s commitment to sustainable textile production and global trade alignment.
