Chinese Home Textile Exports Grow Above Pre-Pandemic Levels

In the first four months of current year, Chinese home textile exports totaled US $10.12 billion, a marginal increase of 0.8 percent year on year, but still up 28.3 percent over the same period in 2019.

Export of bedding products between January and April 2024 was $4.41 billion, growing by 1.6 percent over a year ago period, while export of blankets stood at $940 million, down 3.9 percent.

Carpet exports amounted to $1.38 billion, an increase of 3.4 percent, export of kitchen textiles was $1.03 billion, a rise of 8.6 percent, while curtain exports was $930 million, up 2.1 percent.

Exports of towels dropped sharply by 19.3 percent to $620 million, while tablecloth exports stood at $240 million, an increase of 10.9 percent year on year.

The massive decline in towel exports has been attributed to a 41 percent drop in orders from ASEAN, its largest market and a 53 percent fall in exports to Russia.

While, the decline in blanket exports was attributed to a dip in shipments to the UAE, where they slipped by 22.8 percent and to Saudi Arabia decreased by 18.5 percent year over year
