Chinese PSF Exports Decline 7.1% In First Quarter Of 2024

Chinese polyester staple fibre (PSF) exports in the first quarter of 2024 reached 279 kilo tons, down 7.1 percent over the same quarter of the previous year.

While, PSF exports totaled 112 kilo tons in March 2024, up 4.9 percent year on year and an impressive 60 percent month on month and in doing so reached a five-year high.

Vietnam was the biggest export market for Chinese PSF in the first quarter with 57,493 tons, an increase of 25.06 percent over the first quarter of 2023.

Pakistan came in second place, with a volume of 26,309 tons, but which declined 25.53 percent from a year ago quarter.

Chinese PSF exports to Indonesia witnessed the biggest drop in the months between January and March 2024 at 65.6 percent or 12,177 tons year over year.

The highest growth in PSF shipments was recorded to Russia, where it rose 48.65 percent to 14,699 tons compared to 9,888 tons in the comparable period of earlier year.

PSF shipments to Brazil too were impacted by the anti-dumping investigation where they decreased 34.59 percent to 12,790 tons in the reporting quarter.
