Chinese Refined Cotton Exports Touch Historic High In March
Chinese refined cotton exports reached a historic high in March 2024, when the monthly export volume exceeded 10 kilo tons for the first time.
Exports of refined cotton amounted to 10,701 tons, a massive increase of 41.47 percent year over year and a significant rise of 60.08 percent month-on-month.
The average export price was $1,537 per tons, down 14.89 percent from a year ago month and also a 1.38 percent decrease over February.
In the first three months of 2024, refined cotton export volume stood at 24,685 tons, a growth of 14.62 percent compared to the first quarter of 2023.
The export volume of refined cotton exceeded 80 kilo tons for the first time and reached 81.7 kilo tons in 2022 and continued to break export volume records in 2023 also.
The top export markets for refined cotton in the first quarter of 2024 were South Korea, Kazakhstan, Japan, Netherlands, and Thailand, which collectively accounted for 71 percent of overall exports.
