Chinese Textile Sector Capacity Utilisation Up 1.8% In H1
Data from the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics informs that textile industry capacity utilisation rate touched 76.2 percent in the first six months of the current year, a year on year drop of 1.8 percent.
However, the chemical fibre industry capacity utilisation rate stood higher at 83.2 percent in the first half of 2023, down 0.8 percent against the same months of 2022.
The capacity utilisation rate of the textile industry and chemical fibre industry was however higher than the 74.7 percent capacity utilisation achieved by China’s overall manufacturing industry in the months between January and June this year.
According to China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), in the second quarter of this year, Chinese textile sector’s prosperity index grew to 57 percent, up 10.7 percent year on year and was also month-on-month higher by 1.4 percent higher
CNTAC also added the industrial added value of chemical fibres, cotton textiles; filament weaving and various other textile segments were able to achieve positive growth.
In the first six months of current year, Chinese textile and garment overseas shipments totaled US $142.68 billion, declining by 8.8 percent from a year ago period.
