CHT Adds Bezaktiv Salt Advisor To Help Optimise Cotton Dyeing Costs

CHT Group has introduced the Bezaktiv Salt Advisor, a calculation tool within its CHT textile dyes app, to help textile finishers optimise recipe costs and resource use when dyeing cotton with Bezaktiv reactive dyes.

The tool evaluates how changes in salt concentration affect dye uptake and overall formulation costs. Salt plays a key role in reactive cotton dyeing by increasing the dye’s affinity for the fibre. However, standard salt recommendation tables generally account for shade depth without considering the specific conditions of individual recipes.

According to CHT, the advisor uses a mathematical model that considers the salt-dependent uptake behaviour of its Bezaktiv dyes under different dyeing conditions. Calculations incorporate dye type, dye and salt costs, liquor ratio, and the types of salt and alkali used.

Users can assess the cost impact of increasing or decreasing salt concentration by up to 20 grams per litre from the standard recommendation. Results appear in a chart, allowing finishers to compare options. Where required, the tool also calculates an adjusted dye recipe to maintain the target shade at the revised salt concentration.

CHT said the advisor can help identify cost-saving opportunities while reducing the need for extensive laboratory trials. Where a formulation is already optimised for cost and performance, the tool generates no alternative recommendation.

The addition expands the CHT textile dyes app’s existing range of dye and pigment information and digital tools aimed at reducing water, energy, processing time and operating costs in textile finishing.
