Circulose And CTA Partner To Scale Lyocell Fibres Using Recycled CIRCULOSE Pulp

Circulose has entered into a collaboration with China Textile Academy Green Fibre (CTA) to enable the production of lyocell fibres using CIRCULOSE pulp, marking a key step toward expanding textile-to-textile recycled materials across a broader range of applications.

Lyocell fibres, produced through a solvent-based spinning process, are widely recognised for their strength, softness and sustainability profile. The process operates in a largely closed-loop system, where solvents are recovered and reused, making it one of the most environmentally favourable fibre production methods, particularly when recycled raw materials are used instead of virgin wood pulp.

Under this partnership, CTA and Circulose will offer brand partners lyocell fibres in both standard and non-fibrillating grades, all derived from CIRCULOSE® pulp. This development brings recycled inputs into a fibre category traditionally reliant on virgin resources, enhancing circularity within the textile value chain.

Commercial supply will be limited in 2026, with initial volumes available to selected brand partners. The collaboration aims to scale production capacity significantly by 2027 and brands are encouraged to begin product development initiatives in preparation for broader availability.

As part of the agreement, CTA has committed to purchasing a defined volume of CIRCULOSE pulp over the coming years. This long-term demand visibility supports Circulose in improving pulp performance and quality, while enabling CTA to expand production capacity through optimised manufacturing processes. Such commitments are critical in driving investment, lowering costs and accelerating the adoption of circular textile solutions at scale.

CTA Green Fibre, a leading lyocell fibre producer, operates under China General Technology (Group) Holding Co. Ltd., one of China’s key research and industrial platforms for textile innovation. The company runs commercial-scale production facilities and has developed advanced technologies for next-generation lyocell fibre variants.
