Decathlon Targets Rs 1,000 Crore Running Sports Category Revenue

Decathlon Sports India is witnessing high double-digit sales growth and expects its running sports category to generate more than Rs 1,000 crore in revenue over the next four years, as the sports goods manufacturer and retailer expands its presence across India.
Decathlon India currently operates 132 stores and plans to increase its retail network to 200 stores by 2030. More than half a dozen new outlets are expected to open during the next quarter.
The company is also strengthening its presence in the Northeast following the opening of its first store in Guwahati, Assam. It is expanding its wholesale and reseller network across the region, including Shillong and other cities, to improve access to its products.
Decathlon India is also evaluating the potential impact of the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on domestic manufacturing, particularly in the sporting goods sector. The company sees the agreement as potentially creating greater opportunities for Indian manufacturing and exports to European markets.
Footwear is among the key focus areas as Decathlon works to expand its manufacturing capabilities in India. The company has also increased the share of locally manufactured products in its portfolio, with around 50% of the quantity sold through its stores currently being made in India.
The company’s focus on local sourcing and manufacturing forms part of its broader strategy to expand its retail footprint while developing India as an important manufacturing base for sporting goods.
