GC, WHA Group Expand WeCYCLE Initiative To Boost Circular Economy

PTT Global Chemical Public Company Ltd (GC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with WHA Group and six partner organisations to expand the WeCYCLE initiative, reinforcing resource and waste management efforts to support Thailand’s transition to a low-carbon, circular economy.

Now in its fifth year, the project has welcomed new partners, including VISTEC and Total Energymental Solutions Co., Ltd. to broaden the management of recyclable materials such as plastics, paper, used cooking oil, organic waste, food waste and electronic waste.

Over the past four years, WeCYCLE has processed more than 235 tonnes of waste, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by over 527 tonnes of CO2 equivalent, with participation from more than 140 industrial facilities and communities.

As a key project partner, GC has managed used plastics through its GC YOUTURN platform, collecting more than 80 tonnes of plastic waste equivalent to over 4.8 million plastic bottles from 113 companies within WHA industrial estates for recycling and value-added applications.

The expanded collaboration will strengthen plastic collection networks, develop Community Waste Hubs, increase the use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics and promote upcycled products across the industrial sector.

GC said collaboration between industry, government, academia and recycling experts is essential to advancing Thailand’s circular economy, improving resource efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting long-term sustainable growth.
