ICT Mumbai Receives Rs 1 Crore Donation To Boost Textile Research

The Department of Fibres and Textile Processing Technology at Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai has received a significant contribution of Rs 1 crore from Ullhas Nimkar, Chairman of Nimkartek Testing Services, on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Dr. M. V. Nimkar.
The contribution, made under the Dr. M. V. Nimkar Foundation, is aimed at supporting a wide range of academic and research initiatives within the department, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to excellence in textile education and innovation.
According to the department, the fund will support several key initiatives, including the annual Dr. M. V. Nimkar Endowment Oration, financial assistance for meritorious undergraduate students, support for research publications by postgraduate and doctoral scholars, industry visits for undergraduate and postgraduate students, maintenance of laboratory equipment, skill development programmes for non-teaching staff, and participation of faculty members in conferences and exhibitions.
The contribution is expected to significantly enhance academic, research and skill-development activities within the department, while further strengthening the legacy of Dr. M. V. Nimkar in advancing textile education and technological innovation.
