India To Test Chinese Textiles For Azo Dyes Content

India’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in an updated exemption list, has removed China from a list of countries, which were exempt from Azo Dye tests for textiles imported into the country.

This means all Chinese textiles that are imported by India will be tested for Azo Dyes Content. Azo Dyes are known to be potentially harmful to health.

India imports a huge volume of dyed fibres, yarns, fabrics and garments from China, which will now be tested for Azo Dyes content.

DGFT has added new countries in to the new list whose textiles do not need to be tested for Azo Dyes. These include Australia, Canada, Denmark, Japan, Poland, Serbia, South Korea and UK.
