India-UK CETA Opens New Export Opportunities For Haryana

The India-United Kingdom Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which came into effect on July 15, 2026, is expected to create new export opportunities for Haryana’s industries, MSMEs, farmers, exporters and services sector.

The agreement provides nearly 99% of India’s exports with duty-free access to the UK market, covering almost the entire trade value. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the pact would strengthen the state’s integration with global markets and support the broader vision of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Saini said Haryana, with strong manufacturing, agriculture, textile, automobile, engineering and services sectors, is well positioned to benefit from the agreement. Duty-free access is expected to make products from the state more competitive in the UK and help exporters expand their presence in global value chains.

Key sectors expected to benefit include textiles and apparel, leather and footwear, gems and jewellery, chemicals, engineering products, auto parts, machinery, pharmaceuticals, processed food, handicrafts and ceramics.

Before the agreement, products from these sectors faced UK tariffs ranging from 4% to 70%. The elimination of duties is expected to improve price competitiveness and provide greater market access for Haryana-based exporters.

The Chief Minister highlighted the potential for Haryana’s textile and home furnishing industry in Panipat, automobile and auto-parts industry in Gurugram-Manesar, engineering and manufacturing sector in Faridabad, as well as agriculture and food-processing industries across the state.

The CETA is expected to provide Haryana businesses with opportunities to increase exports, diversify markets and strengthen their participation in international supply chains.
