India’s Textile Exports Show Resilience, Grow Across 111 Markets

India’s textile and apparel exports, including handicrafts, displayed strong resilience in the first half of FY 2025–26 despite global headwinds and tariff challenges in key markets. According to release, India’s global exports of textiles, apparel and made-ups grew marginally by 0.1% during April–September 2025 compared to the same period last year.

Exports to 111 countries showed positive momentum, contributing US$ 8489.08 million, up 10% year-on-year from US$ 7718.55 million, reflecting an absolute increase of US$ 770 million. Among major destinations, exports to the UAE rose 14.5%, Japan 19%, Spain 9%, France 9.2%, Germany 2.9% and the UK 1.5%. Strong growth was also recorded in non-traditional markets such as Egypt (27%), Saudi Arabia (12.5%) and Hong Kong (69%).

Key segments driving this performance included Ready-Made Garments (RMG), which grew 3.42% and Jute products, up 5.56%.

The steady performance highlights the sector’s adaptability and competitiveness, reflecting successful efforts toward market diversification, value addition and global integration under the Government’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.
