Inditex And Ambercycle Forge €70 Million Agreement For Regenerated Polyester
Inditex has signed a three-year agreement worth over €70 million with Ambercycle, a Los Angeles-based material science start-up, to purchase Cycora, a textile-to-textile recycled polyester. This partnership is crucial for scaling the production of Cycora and supporting the construction of Ambercycle’s first commercial textile regeneration facility.
The new facility, expected to begin production in 2025, will enhance the availability of circular materials in the fashion supply chain. Inditex aims for 100% of its textile products to be made from materials with a smaller environmental footprint by 2030, with 25% sourced from next-generation materials.
In conjunction with this announcement, Zara Athleticz has launched a capsule collection featuring technical garments made with up to 50% Cycora. This collaboration highlights the potential of innovative materials to create stylish and functional products with a reduced environmental impact.
“Ambercycle’s partnership with Inditex marks a significant step towards achieving circularity in the fashion industry,” said CEO Shay Sethi. Inditex’s CSO Javier Losada emphasized the company’s commitment to driving innovation in textile-to-textile recycling to reduce waste and emissions.
