Indo-German High-Level Meeting Held On India’s Organic Cotton Exports To Germany
A high-level meeting was convened with Roop Rashi Mahapatra, Textile Commissioner, Government of India, and German delegation led by parliamentarian Dr Rossitza Krueger. The meeting included prominent figures such as Suresh Kotak, Shiv Kanodia, Secretary General of IVF, and Hashmukh Shah.
The agenda focused on establishing a sustainable and robust supply chain in India for:
- Organic cotton throughout the entire textile value chain.
- Environmentally friendly (green) certified imports to Germany and the EU.
- Ethical labour policies.
- Fair trade practices.
- A transparent, accountable and verifiable supply chain.
- Potential ways the German Parliament and EU can facilitate and incentivize these efforts.
Dr Krueger actively engaged in discussions and expressed a keen interest in assisting and incentivizing the development of a sustainable organic supply chain, emphasizing its long-term mutual benefits.
