Indorama Ventures Recycles 500 ml PET Bottles At 808 Festival 2024
Indorama Ventures Public Company Ltd, a global leader in sustainable chemicals and the world’s largest recycler of PET, is Thailand’s first ‘full circularity’ recycling partner for the 808 Festival 2024. The event, held from December 6-8 at BITEC Bangna, attracted over 40,000 electronic music fans and was an opportunity to showcase Indorama Ventures’ commitment to sustainability. The company sponsored and recycled 500 ml PET bottles from the festival, diverting nearly three-quarters of a tonne of waste from the environment into new PET bottles.
Festival-goers were provided with tens of thousands of PET water bottles made from recycled PET (rPET) resin under the Deja brand. A 9.6m³ ‘Recycling Cube’ was set up in the food and beverage zone to facilitate easy waste disposal, with on-site staff educating attendees on waste separation. The collected PET bottles were transported to Indorama Ventures’ PET recycling plant in Nakhon Pathom and transformed back into rPET through a closed-loop process, completing the circular economy model.
Yash Lohia, Chairman of ESG Council at Indorama Ventures, highlighted the initiative’s role in inspiring sustainability among young generations in Thailand. Arsit Prachaseri, Founder and Organizer of the 808 Festival, emphasized the collaboration’s alignment with the festival’s vision of creating sustainable events. The partnership underscores Indorama Ventures’ commitment to environmental stewardship and educating one million people on waste management and PET recycling by 2030.
