Italian Textile Machinery To Showcase Innovations At ITMA ASIA 2024
Around 50 Italian companies will participate in ITMA ASIA + CITME 2024, which will be held from October 14 to 18 in Shanghai. Covering approximately 1,400 square meters, Italy remains one of the leading exhibiting countries, continuing its strong presence from previous editions. Among these, 29 Italian exhibitors will display their innovations within the National Sector Groups, organized by ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers) and the Italian Trade Agency.
ITMA ASIA + CITME has long been a key event for textile machinery manufacturers in Asia, a region that accounts for over 50% of global exports. China, as the world’s largest market in the sector, imported textile machinery worth around €2.6 billion in 2023.
For Italian manufacturers, China remains the top foreign market. In 2023, Italian sales to China reached €222 million, and in the first half of 2024, exports to China surged by 38%, even as overall Italian exports saw a slight decline during the same period.
“We hope that the recovery of the Chinese market seen in the first half of this year signals a broader resurgence in global demand for machinery,” said ACIMIT President Marco Salvadè. In recent years, Chinese companies have increasingly sought technologies that reduce production costs while supporting environmental sustainability, a demand driven by both brands and consumers.
“Today, Italian manufacturers offer highly customized solutions that make textile production more sustainable,” Salvadè added. “The Chinese textile machinery market is evolving rapidly, with rising demand for innovation due to intensifying international competition. In Shanghai, Italian exhibitors will present their latest technologies aimed at improving efficiency and sustainability in textile production.”
The event promises to be a vital platform for showcasing the future of textile machinery in China and beyond.
