Julien Leclercq Appointed Chairman Of Decathlon’s Board Of Directors

Decathlon, a global leader in sports retail, has announced the appointment of Julien Leclercq as the new Chairman of its board of directors, succeeding Fabien Derville, who has held the position since 2018. The leadership transition took effect on March 10, 2025.

During his tenure, Fabien led Decathlon through a period of significant growth and transformation. In collaboration with Decathlon’s CEO, he spearheaded key initiatives, including a new brand strategy, advancements in the circular economy, streamlined brand portfolios and innovative sales formats such as B2B, franchising and urban stores. These efforts have reinforced Decathlon’s position as a pioneer in accessible and sustainable sports.

Julien Leclercq brings extensive experience and a dynamic leadership style to his new role. A long-standing Decathlon leader, Julien began his career as a Department Manager in Spain and advanced through roles, including Store Manager in Belgium and founder of Decathlon’s operations in Singapore. His entrepreneurial experience includes leading Genairgy’s active travel investment fund and co-creating Decathlon Travel, reflecting his innovative approach to business.
