Kraig Biocraft Laboratories Says Spider Silk Production Unaffected By Southeast Asia Typhoons

Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, Inc. has confirmed that its spider silk production operations in Vietnam remain fully secure and uninterrupted, despite recent typhoons that caused widespread flooding in parts of Southeast Asia. The company attributed the operational continuity to its strategic relocation of production facilities to highland regions over the past two years.

According to the company, all facilities and infrastructure, including mulberry feedstock supplies, sustained no damage during the severe weather events. Kraig Labs had transitioned its operations away from lowland areas in 2024 to reduce climate-related risks, a move the company says has now proven essential for long-term stability.

“Our hearts go out to the communities affected by these storms,” said Kim Thompson, Founder and CEO of Kraig Biocraft Laboratories. “We are grateful that our teams and facilities are safe. The investments we made in highland infrastructure have clearly demonstrated their strategic importance.”

The company noted that its former facility in Quang Nam province, which has already been closed and fully vacated, was among the areas impacted by flooding. All personnel, equipment and assets had been relocated in September, well in advance of the storms.

Kraig Labs has also emphasized its approach of maintaining multiple parallel production sites to support scalability and safeguard against disruption. This redundancy, the company said, reinforces operational resilience and strengthens its ability to meet growing market demand for advanced spider silk materials.

“With each step forward, we are building greater resilience across our business,” Thompson added. “These investments position Kraig Labs to expand production capacity and deliver next-generation spider silk to global markets.”
