KVIC Disburses Rs 300 Cr Subsidy Under PMEGP To Boost Self-Employment

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), disbursed Rs 300 crore in margin money subsidy to 8,794 beneficiaries across the country under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). The nationwide disbursal event was conducted virtually from KVIC’s Central Office in Mumbai.

The subsidy was released against sanctioned loans of approximately Rs 884 crore, marking a major push for employment generation and entrepreneurship development in both urban and rural India. KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar, who presided over the virtual disbursement, emphasized that PMEGP has emerged as a transformative scheme under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“PMEGP is not just creating self-employment opportunities but is driving the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Khadi and Village Industries today represent a movement towards economic empowerment and grassroots entrepreneurship,” Kumar said.

KVIC CEO Roop Rashi and other senior officials were present at the headquarters during the event, which saw active participation from all six zones of the country:

  • South Zone (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry): Rs 80.26 crore subsidy for 2,445 projects
  • Central Zone (Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand): Rs 91.13 crore subsidy for 2,366 projects
  • East & Northeast Zone (Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura): Rs 62.68 crore for 2,167 projects

  • West Zone (Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa): Rs 24.12 crore for 496 projects

The coordinated effort highlights the inclusive and pan-India impact of PMEGP, which continues to strengthen grassroots enterprise development.

Since its inception, PMEGP has facilitated the establishment of over 10.18 lakh micro enterprises, backed by sanctioned loans of Rs 73,348 crore and margin money subsidies totaling Rs 27,166 crore. More than 90 lakh people have benefited through direct and indirect employment, positioning PMEGP as one of the most impactful self-employment schemes in India.
