KVIC Surpasses Rs 1.5 Lakh Crore Turnover, Creates 10 Lakh Jobs
The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has surpassed the Rs 1.5 lakh crore turnover mark for the first time in the 2024 financial year, marking a significant milestone in its history. KVIC’s chairman, Manoj Kumar, highlighted the achievement, noting a substantial increase from the Rs 1.34 lakh crore sales reported in FY2023.
Over the past decade, KVIC has witnessed remarkable growth, with a 400% increase in sales and a 315% rise in production rates. This growth underscores the revival of Khadi textiles in the Indian fashion industry, supported by luxury designers embracing this heritage weave amid rising demand for sustainable textiles.
KVIC’s efforts have also led to substantial employment generation, with a notable 81% increase over the past decade. In FY2023-2024 alone, KVIC’s initiatives created 10.17 lakh new jobs in rural areas, contributing significantly to rural economic development. The commission continues to play a pivotal role in promoting Khadi and village industries, further enhancing their economic impact and sustainability across India.
