Lenzing To Hike Output Of Responsible VSF For APAC Region
Lenzing will increase production of its responsible viscose fibres of its textile Lenzing Ecovero and nonwoven Veocel brands, for the Asia-Pacific region.
The viscose fibres, which are EU Ecolabel 1 certified and produced in Indonesia, will help Lenzing meet the growing demand among environmentally conscious consumers for textile and nonwoven products.
Lenzing has successfully transformed its Indonesian site with reduced sulfur emissions as well as annual CO2 footprint and is expected to contribute to wastewater reduction.
“We are working tirelessly to make the industries in which we operate even more sustainable and to drive the transformation of the textile business from linear to circular,” CEO Stephan Sielaff said.
“Demand for specialty fibres with low environmental impacts continues to grow structurally. We see enormous growth potential in Asia in particular,” Sielaff added.
“Our Indonesian investment, as well as in other Lenzing sites around the world, put us in an even better position to meet the growing demand for specialty fibres with low environmental impact,” he stated.
Produced with up to 50 percent lower fossil energy use and water than generic viscose 2 and certified with the internationally recognized EU Ecolabel, Lenzing Ecovero viscose fibres have found several applications.
These include woven and knitwear products such as fashionable tops, dresses, t-shirts, and loungewear and fashion brands using these fibres include M&S, H&M and Levi’s.
