Life Cycle Assessment Tool Launched by Chinese Textile Sector
At the recently held China Apparel Conference, the textile and apparel sector launched the LCAplus platform, which is a textile life cycle assessment tool.
The LCAplus platform will offer support for textile & garment companies to gather and trace environmental data throughout the textile production process.
The tool will also help the China’s textile and clothing sector graduate towards a greener and more sustainable means of production.
The China Textile Information Center has also evaluated the supply chain of 32 apparel brands and 102 textile fabrics covering 13 different fibres and six various yarns and encompasses 173 suppliers.
The evaluation also includes 24 different counts of yarns, three dyeing processes and two fabric weaving processes and includes various textile products like yarns, fabrics, apparels and home textiles.
In the next stage the China Textile Information Center will undertake trials of the LCAplus platform at major textile and clothing companies and optimise functions of the LCAplus platform based on the feedback.
