Lululemon And Samsara Eco Sign 10-Year Deal To Expand Use Of Recycled Materials

Lululemon and Samsara Eco have entered into a 10-year offtake agreement to advance the use of recycled raw materials in Lululemon’s product portfolio. Under the partnership, Lululemon will source a significant portion of its future nylon 6,6 and polyester needs from Samsara Eco, with the potential to cover up to 20% of its total fibre portfolio by 2030.

This agreement builds on a growing collaboration between the two companies. In the past year, they introduced the world’s first enzymatically recycled nylon 6,6 product sample and launched Lululemon’s first enzymatically recycled polyester garment—a limited-edition Packable Anorak.

Ted Dagnese, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Lululemon, emphasized the importance of bold partnerships in scaling circular materials. “We’re investing in multiple collaborations to reduce our dependence on fossil-fuel-based resources. Our work with Samsara Eco is a key step toward a circular model,” he said.

Samsara Eco uses engineered enzymes to break down polyester and nylon into their original building blocks, enabling closed-loop recycling of mixed plastics and fibres. CEO Paul Riley noted the significance of the expanded partnership, calling it a major milestone in the push for circular fashion.

To support this effort, Samsara Eco is set to open a new facility in Jerrabomberra, New South Wales, to boost production and enhance its enzyme technology, EosEco. An international commercial plant is also slated for 2028.
