Maharashtra Clears Rs 1.35 Lakh Cr Projects To Boost Industry, Jobs

In a significant push to accelerate industrial development and job creation, the Maharashtra government has approved 17 major projects worth Rs 1.35 lakh crore under its thrust sector and high-tech industry initiatives.

The approvals were granted during the 12th meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Industries, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, held at the state legislature on Wednesday.

A total of 19 large, mega, and ultra-mega investment proposals were evaluated for special incentives under the Package Scheme of Incentives (PSI) and thrust sector policies. Of these, 17 projects received the green light.

According to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), these projects are projected to generate around one lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities across the state.

The approved investments span critical and future-focused sectors such as semiconductors, silicon ingots and wafers, solar cells and modules, electric vehicle components, lithium-ion batteries, aerospace and defence equipment, green steel, textiles, and gas-to-chemicals production.

“These projects will not only boost employment but also promote cutting-edge research, innovation, and the development of a robust industrial ecosystem in Maharashtra,” Fadnavis said.

The state will offer various incentives, including capital subsidies and power tariff concessions, to attract and support these investments.

Officials said the approvals reaffirm Maharashtra’s position as a top destination for transformative industrial investments in India.
