Matter And Paradise Launch World’s First Textile Microfibre Filter
British climate tech company Matter and Paradise Textiles, the material science and innovation hub of the Alpine Group, have announced a groundbreaking project to bring Matter’s Regen for Textile Production to market. Regen is the world’s first microfibre filter specifically designed for textile manufacturers, aimed at tackling the critical issue of global microfibre pollution and setting a new benchmark for sustainability in the textile industry.
Developed by Matter, Regen for Textile Production is a significant leap forward in sustainable textile manufacturing. The filter efficiently captures microfibres during production, using Matter’s patented self-cleaning filtration technology. This low-energy, low-cost solution not only filters wastewater but also reduces chemical use, extends the life of water reuse systems, and cuts operating costs. A single manufacturing site could save up to 3 million kilowatt-hours annually and capture over 90 tonnes of microfibres, preventing more than 2,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Set for installation at Paradise Textiles’ state-of-the-art low impact fabric mill in Egypt by Q4 2025,Regen will serve as a showcase for brands and manufacturers interested in adopting this technology. This initiative builds on Matter’s earlier success with a microfibre filter for home laundry systems, launched in partnership with Bosch and Siemens. Supported by investors such as S2G Ventures and Regeneration.VC, Matter raised $10 million in Series A funding in 2023.
Unveiled during Regeneration VC’s Annual Meeting at New York Climate Week, Matter and Paradise highlighted the revolutionary potential of Regen, which aims to reduce microfibre pollution across the 150,000 textile factories globally, responsible for 20% of the world’s clean water pollution. With textile manufacturing contributing 120,000 tonnes of microfibre emissions annually, the need for change is urgent.
