Morocco, Sunrise Group Sign MAD 2.3 Billion Textile Deal

Morocco has signed an investment agreement with Chinese textile giant Sunrise Group to strengthen its textile industry. The MAD 2.3 billion deal, signed in Rabat, will establish two industrial units in Skhirat and Fez, creating 7,000 direct and 1,500 indirect jobs.

The project aims to build an integrated supply chain, allowing Moroccan companies to produce fabrics and garments locally, reducing logistics costs and improving efficiency. By manufacturing textiles domestically, Moroccan businesses can fulfill international orders faster and expand their market reach.

Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch highlighted the agreement as a testament to Morocco’s economic appeal and strong ties with China, fostered by King Mohammed VI and President Xi Jinping.

The deal follows discussions between the Moroccan government and Sunrise Group, including a meeting between Akhannouch and Chairman Li Xu in Shanghai in September 2024. High-ranking officials, including key ministers, attended the signing ceremony, underscoring the project’s strategic importance.
