MPTMA Proposes Green Zero-Waste PM MITRA Park In Dhar

The Madhya Pradesh Textile Mills Association (MPTMA) has urged the government to establish the upcoming PM MITRA Park in Dhar district as a zero-waste generation hub, incorporating renewable energy sources into its framework. The association believes that promoting a green environment within the park could significantly enhance its attractiveness to foreign investors.

In a memorandum to Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh, the association proposed the implementation of a single window mechanism to streamline the investment process for businesses interested in setting up operations in the park. This would help reduce bureaucratic delays and allow investors to focus on their core activities.

Shreyaskar Chaudhary, Chairman of the association, emphasized the importance of developing surrounding amenities, including residential areas, schools, shopping centres, recreational spaces and healthcare services, to create a favourable environment for investors and their employees. He also proposed the introduction of a new Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme with lower investment thresholds and expanded product coverage to stimulate cotton garment production and exports.

The association also called for a plug-and-play concept for the park, offering on-site skill development programmes, infrastructure and dormitory facilities to support the textile sector and encourage small-scale investors.

Additionally, the association highlighted the need for the government to swiftly introduce a new technology upgradation scheme, as the previous one, which had been in effect since 1998, expired in March 2022.

The expiration has delayed the modernization of the textile industry and the association has stressed the urgency of implementing a new scheme to drive technical advancements and industry growth.
