New ZDHC Platform Simplifies Chemical Compliance

The Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) initiative has launched the first phase of its digital transformation with a new online platform for suppliers, marking a major shift away from traditional PDF-based guidelines.

This platform centralizes all supplier requirements under the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero (RtZ) Programme, providing a structured, user-friendly experience for suppliers in the apparel, textile, leather and footwear industries. It allows them to access and implement ZDHC’s sustainable chemical management standards at their own pace, while simplifying performance evaluations in line with the Supplier to Zero framework.

“This makes it easier to guide and onboard suppliers through a clear, structured journey,” ZDHC said in a statement, highlighting the benefits of digital consolidation for both suppliers and brands.

While the initial rollout focuses on suppliers, future updates will include modules tailored for brands, formulators and solution providers. However, certain sectors such as man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCF), recycled polyester and dissolved pulp, are not yet covered under the supplier platform but will be included in later phases.

Looking ahead, ZDHC plans to introduce the Brands Roadmap to Zero in 2026, offering brands an integrated view of their progress in sustainable chemical practices. Additional platforms for formulators and solution providers are also in development to further unify ZDHC guidelines and enhance industry-wide collaboration and transparency.

With over 350 signatories, the RtZ Programme continues to be a leading global framework for responsible chemical management.

“Carrying out sustainable chemical management can be complex and navigating multiple PDF documents is a challenge,” ZDHC said. “We’ve listened to your feedback and are shifting to a simplified, digital experience, no more PDFs, no added complexity, just a streamlined solution.”
