Oerlikon Celebrates 20 Years Of e-save Sustainability
Oerlikon marks two decades of its e-save sustainability programme, achieving over 15 million tonnes of CO2 savings. Launched in 2004, e-save focuses on energy efficiency, environmental impact and ergonomics. Innovations like WINGS POY and WINGS FDY have significantly reduced energy consumption and set industry benchmarks.
Oerlikon’s technology, used in half of the world’s polyester, polypropylene and nylon production, has enabled substantial CO2 reductions, equivalent to 15 million intercontinental flights. Recent advancements include the EvoSteam staple fibre plant, which conserves 3.5 million litres of water annually, and the 3DD mixer technology, which offers cleaner dyeing processes.
The company also earned Bluesign certification, enhancing transparency and trust. “Sustainability is essential, not optional,” says Georg Stausberg, CEO of Oerlikon Polymer Processing Solutions Division and Chief Sustainability Officer.
