UPM Earns Platinum Rating From EcoVadis For Sustainability Excellence

UPM has been awarded a prestigious platinum rating by EcoVadis, reflecting the company’s outstanding sustainability performance across four critical areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. This top-tier rating places UPM among the elite one per cent of the 130,000 global companies assessed by EcoVadis.

UPM achieved a remarkable score of 81 out of 100 in the manufacture of pulp, paper and paperboard industry, underscoring its commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.

Sami Lundgren, Vice President of Responsibility at UPM, emphasized the significance of the assessment. “The feedback from EcoVadis, both on strengths and areas of improvement, is extremely valuable and helps us to continuously enhance our sustainability performance,” Lundgren said. He highlighted the company’s strong performance in labour and human rights, including health and safety, gender pay equity, living wage, and diversity and inclusion.

Lundgren also praised UPM’s efforts to foster sustainability across its entire value chain. “Our comprehensive sustainable supply chain programme is instrumental in driving compliance and mitigating risks, helping us meet our environmental, social and governance targets and ambitions,” he added.

EcoVadis evaluates companies’ performance in over 220 purchasing categories across more than 180 countries, providing a benchmark for global sustainability practices. UPM’s platinum rating reflects its leadership and ongoing commitment to improving sustainability standards.
