Pak Textile Exports Dip 14.2% In Eleven Months Of FY’23

In the first eleven months of fiscal ending June 30, 2023, Pakistani textile exports fell 14.2% year on year, to touch US$ 15.02 billon as against $17.62 billion in the same period of previous fiscal.

However, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said that export of raw cotton bucked the trend and more than doubled to $13.425 million, from a year ago, while that of tents, canvas and tarpaulin too grew to $125.840 million, up 26.52% year on year.

Cotton yarn export dipped drastically by 33.75% to $737.18 million in the period under review, while cotton fabric exports were down 16.87% to $1,859.38 million. Garment exports also decreased 10.28% to $3,172.385 million, from a year ago period.

The only bright spot were textile exports which grew 7.12% in May 2023 as against April 2023, but declined 19.57% in May 2023 when compared with May 2022.

Target topics based seminars, supported by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India would also be held concurrently along with the exhibition wherein the speakers would be discussing about current and evolving technologies in medical textiles.
