PM Modi Launches India’s Largest Textile Park In Dhar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for India’s largest integrated textile park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, marking a significant push for the country’s textile industry under the government’s PM MITRA scheme.

Spread across 1300 acres, the Dhar park will house more than 80 industrial units and is expected to generate around three lakh jobs. Infrastructure development and factory construction will run in parallel, with the aim of reducing logistics costs and enhancing competitiveness of Indian textiles in global markets.

“The PM MITRA Park will make the entire textile value chain available at one location, from spinning and designing to processing and exports,” the Prime Minister said. He highlighted that the project would give farmers fair value for cotton and silk, provide easy access to weaving materials and simplify quality checks and market connectivity.

The Dhar textile park, part of seven such mega projects planned nationwide, is projected to cut manufacturing costs significantly and make Indian textile products more affordable and competitive abroad. “The park will reduce logistics and manufacturing costs, creating new opportunities for both farmers and youth,” Modi said, congratulating the people of Madhya Pradesh on the initiative.

PM Modi also reiterated his government’s 5F vision for the textile industry, Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion and Fashion to Foreign, highlighting the focus on integrating farm output with global fashion markets.

The project aligns with India’s strategy to strengthen its position in global textiles and apparel supply chains, where cost efficiency, scale, and sustainability are increasingly decisive factors.

By linking traditional textile legacies such as Maheshwari sarees with modern integrated parks, the government aims to bridge heritage with high-tech production, boosting both exports and domestic consumption.

Industry observers say the Dhar MITRA Park could emerge as a benchmark for India’s textile hubs, creating scale efficiencies and positioning India as a stronger alternative to global competitors in the sector.
