MP Gets India’s First PM MITRA Park Rs 2100 Cr Sanctioned For Dhar

Madhya Pradesh has taken a major step forward in the national textile sector with the formal sanction of a PM MITRA (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Park in Dhar district. The Central Government has approved funding of Rs 2,100 crore for the project, positioning the state at the forefront of India’s integrated textile infrastructure push.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav hailed the development as a significant milestone for the state’s industrial landscape, especially for Dhar—a tribal-dominated region. “The allocation of Rs 2,100 crore by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a remarkable achievement for Madhya Pradesh. The park is expected to generate around 3 lakh employment opportunities,” he said. The initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s “5F” vision—Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign—and is seen as a move to re-establish Madhya Pradesh as a leading cotton hub while promoting prosperity among cotton farmers.
Declared as the “Year of Industry and Employment,” 2025 will see intensified efforts to attract investments and boost industrialisation in the state. The recent Global Investors Summit (GIS) held in Bhopal in February generated investment proposals worth Rs 30.77 lakh crore. Spearheading these efforts, Principal Secretary Raghwendra Kumar Singh has been leading initiatives through conclaves, roadshows, and policy reforms.
The PM MITRA Park in Dhar, India’s first fully integrated textile facility under the scheme, is being developed as a greenfield smart textile hub over 2,150 acres in Bhainsola village, located about 110 km from Indore. It will feature world-class infrastructure, including a 20 MLD zero liquid discharge effluent treatment plant, a dedicated solar power unit, plug-and-play factory spaces, and residential complexes for workers and managers. A special-purpose vehicle, jointly formed by the Centre and the state, is executing the project, with MPIDC (Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation) appointed as the master developer.
According to MPIDC Managing Director Chandramauli Shukla, construction is progressing rapidly, with roads, power supply, and water infrastructure already underway. “The entrance gate is complete, and major external works are on track to finish by June 2025,” he said. Investment interest has surged, with proposals exceeding Rs 10,000 crore and agreements already signed with leading national textile and apparel bodies.
The park will also include vocational training centres to prepare local youth for employment in spinning, weaving, and garment manufacturing. With integrated social and industrial infrastructure, the PM MITRA Park in Dhar is poised to be a model for sustainable, inclusive growth and a cornerstone of Madhya Pradesh’s transformation into a textile powerhouse.
