Roop Rashi, Textile Commissioner of India, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, was also present at the summit, along with dignitaries and industry leaders who praised RSWM’s proactive approach to sustainability. The newly launched report highlights RSWM’s key initiatives in circular economy practices, carbon footprint reduction and innovations in green textile manufacturing. Guided by the philosophy of giving back to nature, RSWM focuses on reducing, reusing, recycling and replenishing natural resources, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable practices.

Addressing the Global Plastic Waste Crisis
A major highlight of RSWM’s efforts is its recycling of approximately 1,830 million PET bottles annually, converting them into 51,850 MT of recycled polyester fibre. This initiative significantly reduces landfill waste and supports the creation of sustainable textile products. Additionally, RSWM uses 8,818 metric tonnes of biofuel each year, derived from dry husks, to further cut down fossil fuel consumption—underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainable alternatives in manufacturing.

Water Conservation and Energy Sustainability
RSWM has adopted strict Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) measures, utilizing advanced multi-stage treatment plants that save approximately 23,36,792 kilolitres of water annually. The company has also shifted to renewable energy sources like solar and wind, using 76.5 million kilowatt-hours of green energy each year. This transition reduces dependency on traditional power sources and contributes to national energy sustainability efforts.

Through its energy-efficient practices, RSWM has achieved an annual reduction of 800,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions, emphasizing its proactive approach to combating climate change. The company also upcycles 8,162 metric tonnes of textile waste each year by incorporating recycled cotton into production, further promoting sustainable resource use in the industry.

Commitment to Sustainable Agriculture and Greenery
RSWM integrates sustainable agricultural practices by using 72,357 kilogrammes of organic manure and fertilizers annually, enhancing soil health and reducing the environmental impact of its operations.

A Culture of Sustainability
Speaking on the company’s green initiatives, B.M. Sharma, Joint Managing Director of RSWM Ltd., stated, “Sustainability for us goes beyond regulatory compliance—it’s a core part of our business philosophy. We are committed to embedding sustainability into every decision we make, ensuring that we balance what we take from nature with what we give back. Transparency in reporting is essential to us, and we share our progress through various channels, including social media and internal reports. Sustainability is not just a corporate responsibility; it is a cultural value that guides our actions as we strive to protect the environment for future generations.”

Looking Forward: Expanding the Use of Sustainable Fibres
RSWM’s sustainability journey continues to evolve with a focus on innovation. The company is expanding its use of eco-friendly fibres, including organic and recycled cotton, linen, hemp, jute and silk. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to integrate sustainability into every facet of its operations, revolutionizing the textile industry for a greener future.
