SDC Conference On Sustainability & Circularity In Coloration

The Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) is organising an international conference on Sustainability & Circularity in Coloration, which will be held from June 18-19, 2024 in Manchester.

“This International Conference has been some time coming, partly due to the Covid pandemic, but is very much a response to the survey of SDC Members who requested more globalisation in SDC activities,” Ullhas Nimkar, SDC President 2022-23 and Chairman at NimkarTek, India said.

“Our activities are global, and I am very excited to invite you to attend this event and hear how we can meet the needs of the world’s population sustainably,” he informed.

“The concepts of sustainability and circularity are not new but there are innovative ways of addressing them,” Prof Chris Carr, SDC President 2023-24 and Professor in Textile Technology, University of Leeds, also said

“As a leading academic, I see first-hand many industry issues and I invite you to attend this conference and see how innovations can be utilised to make positive impacts on our industry and our world,” Prof Carr added.

“This conference will take place not long after I am officially appointed SDC President, but am very aware that its development has spanned terms of two SDC previous Presidents,” Dr Susan Kay-Williams, SDC President 2024-25 & CEO at Royal School of Needlework, Kingston upon Thames, England too said.

“This input makes the conference a fabulous opportunity to hear from the best-of-the-best and adopt innovations that arise at the interfaces of textiles, colour history, natural colourants and other developments such as Artificial Intelligence,” Kay-Williams shared.

“I have written on the Story of Colour and I see this event as the next Chapters,” she informed.
